Quizzes are a fun way to engage users and respondents and make your applications more enjoyable. In this article, we'll look at how quizzes work and how to create them.

Creating a Quiz

Creating a quiz is just like creating any other web form on Qrvey.  Start by creating a new application or clicking on an existing one, then selecting Web Forms from the left-hand menu, followed by Create Web Form. The menu can be expanded and collapsed by clicking anywhere along the orange bar.

Next, select Quiz from the list of available web forms and click Create New.

You can then give your quiz a name and description by clicking on the title box. You also have the option to allow users to save their partial quiz and return to complete it at a later date.

Next, you may choose from a variety of question types that are suitable for quizzes. For more information on each of these question types, consult our Question Field Guide.

For each question you add to your quiz, you must select the correct answer choice on the left.

You may also assign points to each question in the upper-righthand corner of the question. By default, all questions are assigned 10 points each.

For multiple choice questions, you also have the option to upload an image, then ask respondents a question about that image. You can choose an image from your local computer or enter a URL for any online image that allows direct linking. The maximum file size for images is 5 MB.

Quiz Actions

At the bottom of your quiz, you'll find the  Quiz Actions area where you can set additional scoring options and also email preferences.

In the Score section, you can choose from basic or custom scoring options. In basic mode, you can set the minimum number of points that qualifies as a passing score for your quiz as well as provide custom passing and failing messages that will be shown to quiz takers.

Custom mode allows for even more flexibility. You can set multiple scoring levels, values and user messages as needed.

Retry Limit allows you to set the number of times a user may retake a quiz in order to achieve a passing score. End User Options allow you to hide or display a progress counter, the final scoring page and the retry limit to end users as desired.

Finally, in the E-mail section, you may provide a custom message when asking for a quiz taker's email address and also choose whether or not to allow duplicate submissions from a single email address.

Previewing Your Quiz

If you'd like to take your quiz for a spin, you can click the orange Preview button in the upper right corner. You can delete a quiz question by clicking on the three-dot menu in the lower-right corner of the question you'd like to remove.
